Some professionals seem to advance through strong project contributions, while others move up after leading initiatives and demonstrating broader impact. In your experience, is promotion driven more by individual execution or by taking ownership and leading projects?

Ex-boss, now external, offered me a role. Offer is not “official” but it’s a serious offer. Was asked to consider joining so I can go through the HR/recruiting process of a formal offer. While I would leave to work for them, I’d prefer to stay if I was offered the same money at current firm. Should I or can I talk to my current manager about a raise while mentioning this unofficial offer? I don’t want to burn bridge with ex-boss by going through hr process to then decline if current firm matches

Has anyone ever dealt with Geico UM case where they insist that a release needs to be signed? Geico extended our client’s policy limits but wants him to sign a release. We offered to sign an acknowledgment of receipt of funds but Geico said without a release signed, they will not issue payment.

Joined LTI recently in P3 band. However not allocated any project. Got a call from the resource management team to relocate, which I rejected upfront as I was promised a role in the location I am posted. It has been over 2 weeks since I am in bench. What shall be the next steps, shall I wait for some days or start looking for other jobs as getting a project looks difficult as there are minimalist responses.

How to decline a project? Currently, I am in a staffing discussion with a team. The project doesn't interest me and doesn't align with my goals.

I am in a tech IC position. One of friends switched to FAANG by converting the profile to consultant profile. The friend who might have less tech knowledge than me is now in FAANG and earning more. Should I leave my first permanent job as a team leader of 4 DPs in a FMCG business (only been there for 4 months) to join a huge Tech business for a 12months contract?

How does contract to hire work? If I’m offered $37/hr on w2 for 3 months and then possibly a permanent position, how much can I expect to get annually as a full time company employee as a BI data analyst II? I have a M.S. and certificates in DA but this will be my first job as DA.
I prefer working for what is offered on contract without negotiating, and then negotiate when I transition into the company itself so I have a better chance of getting the contract position and show my skills.
