Well one of these firms employs Darth Vader, if you haven't read the NY Times lately.
Darth Vader is the chosen one and a galactic hero. Hurts to have lost that cross-offer
Former Mck here, digital/tech Mck is better because BCG is still growing pains, but otherwise BCG offers better entry compensation and culture
This comment is not very helpful because what you describe is so different between geographies.
I’d also argue that BCG has better digital chops in the UK given the strength of BCGDV
I’m a generalist working in BCG, core member of Technology Advantage (aka Digital). Platinion people often work the exact same way we do, but are expected to bring a much greater depth of expertise in hard tech topics, such as enterprise architecture, Agile software dev, etc. DV is not just internal product development, they do diagnostics work, and bring more product-oriented analytical approaches to the work we do, and yeah, if someone at our firm is going to develop prototypes and proof of concepts, it’ll be them (I worked with them on a banking digitisation case to develop a prototype for a new banking app function).
My perception is that McK - at least in our APAC region - is more theoretical and academic, whereas BCG is more likely to build things from scratch, and get our hands dirty with the prototyping I mentioned above.
I can’t speak for places like the US, but I was a lateral hire working in the tech industry for 10 years before I joined BCG, and would not characterise what they/we do as immature or “still finding their feet”.
Edit: I was also interviewed by McK at the same time as BCG.
