A group of teachers and I, talk regularly about our highs and lows and our joys and frustrations of teaching. I want to invite more teachers to these chats. Please join me for our first, of hopefully many, official meet ups to discuss SELF CARE. Is Self Care part of your routine? Are you in need of some quick ways to take better care of yourself? Either way, come join the convo!

Most of the time analyst don't work is because of a management issue.
One example would be there is too much ambiguity or too large of an information dump. Instead of one big assignment, try cutting it up into little ones with each having a clear start and finish.
Preferably one that is more straightforward and not nuanced analysis.
Starting consulting is like drinking from a fire hose. Your comfort with ambiguity and nuance comes with experience. Keeping someone focused on a specific task let's them provide value while not being overwhelmed.
I do CCD, so I normally start them on competitor profiles or other raw information pull type assignments. Easy stuff that has a definite start and finish.
Have you tried talking with these analysts first? Maybe there's an underlying issue...
I mean if an analyst has an issue that is making them not want to work during normal 9-5 working hours, I think that’s something that they need to proactively bring up no?
What do you mean by “refuse to work”? If they’re genuinely not doing their work, not delivering what they are supposed to or not taking on more work during reasonable hours, then first try talking to them to see if there’s any reasons behind it and clearly outline your expectations and what happens if they don’t meet them. If on the other hand you mean they’re not working as much as you want them to, ie super long hours, or they’re already burnt out and struggling, then you might want to look at resourcing and how you get them more support
Yes, this is a theme, and the idea that because it’s not what they want to be doing/don’t like the project, they want to roll off. There is so much to learn and now is the perfect time. Even if they don’t think the project is ideal, working diligently, being open to learning something new and being a team player is extremely appreciated and noted.
