How long did it take you to find a good exit opportunity? Currently want out of EY as I was put on a long term project with a bad client and working terrible hours (80+ hr including weekends) for a couple of months already. I've put on 50+ apps and been denied to some opportunities already without even a chance at interviewing. Losing hope...

9 months of being picky. Got two opportunities at EY within days of signing the new offer. Seems like it always happens that way.

About 1 year. I was selective in applying, and only applied to those that fit my experience and also I am interested in. Total about ~25 applications. 4 final rounds. About 4 others that didn’t get through after first interview (not screening). Over half of the rest got called from recruiter but we agree it’s not a good fit for various reasons.

Pm me if you want bud, I was at EY too and left after looking for 2-3 months seriously (on and off for about 5-6 months but not serious at all)

For me, about 4-5 months

4 months - start to finish

~3 months of applying with ~80 applications

From first contact with the exit opportunity company to getting an offer took about two months…and I was recruited. Granted, I was passively looking and had some applications out there. I had my “open to work” status turned on in LI which helped attract recruiters. Sometimes, the right opportunity finds you!

When can you ask what the salary is during the interview process. I’d need a bump to jump & don’t want to waste anyone’s time. Glassdoor has very wide range.

Why are firms still so obsessed with geography? I applied to this firm’s Boston office because I loved the firm, culture, and practice, and half of my interview was about Boston. Sigh. I work in a 7-attorney firm with a national presence. Partly because I’m only a few months in, I work a roughly 8-6 day. I’m also new to billing and often find myself working all day and billing just 4 hours. Whenever I bring this up to the partner, he says it’s good we’re not over billing our client. We don’t have minimum billable hours so it doesn’t matter much for the firm’s sake but I think I’m missing out on learning the important skill of billing my time. Has anyone ever experienced this?

Has anyone here used a service to help you find a new job? I’m looking at one where they source and apply for jobs for me. They’ll also help me rework my resume, LinkedIn, and other materials, as well as interview coaching. I’ve been looking for a new position on my own with no luck for the past 6 months. The downside of this service is they charge a commission based on the salary for the job they place you in. Thoughts or advice?

All, this is my first post and I just want to share that I passed the first Amazon interview for Technical Program Manager and am heading to on-site virtual interviews! I have 20 years of corporate tech in a traditional F500 company (top 50). The only thing I can say that I like about my current job is the work-life balance and some of the people. But the work itself is soul crushing and the industry is stagnant. To those who are 40+ years old, is it crazy to change now?

I’ve been doing On-Set Remote Streaming for 3 years, and Video Playback (VTR) for 19 years mostly on Commercials in LA. The new norm is quite different. I'm limited to 500 words in these posts, but for anyone interested I can give you free demo of Live stream and answer any questions. -Brett Junod

Just found out that one of my colleagues got promoted from AAE to SAE in one year. I’m incredibly happy for her, but I’m also feeling a little bothered since we joined the agency almost at the same time and I, on the other hand, didn’t get promoted this year (not even a pay raise). We’re on a different department (I work in Digital) and I’m happy for her but it makes me a bit uneasy. Should I be bothered? How can I be better advocate for myself during reviews?
