How long did it take you to study for the PMP? What are your best study tips?

Took about 2 months studying on my own. A coworker let me borrow a subscription to Project Management Academy. Their online content is pretty good as a base. Completed all the quizzes. Did about 4 practice tests till I scored above 80%. Took another free practice test at oliverlehmann.com. It cost me $405 to take the test and about $35 for the PDU it takes to qualify. I passed late in 2019. I got a couple interviews I don’t think I would have gotten otherwise but so far it hasn’t really changed my career.

I did a 4 day boot camp to get my feet wet (it also counted as my 35 contact hours) back in August 26-29. Sent my application on August 30th, approved September 4th, scheduled my exam for September 20th and studied pretty much every single day. Weekdays I reviewed the chapters and specific sections I struggled with, then weekends I did a full length practice test Saturday and spent Sunday reviewing every wrong answer. Then I started focusing on questions for each process group/knowledge area and reviewing wrong answers. I passed with all Above Target!

In terms of materials, I used PMTraining, and I know a lot of folks who’ve used PrepCast. I also got the “PMP Exam Success Sheet” from a coworker (available on amazon) which was massively helpful. And I watched the Ricardo Vargas Flow of the PMBOK vid on YouTube which helped contextualize how everything works

about 3 weeks like 6 months after an in-person bootcamp. i could have done it in less. just do a bunch of practice tests and review what you get wrong. if you take 10 practice tests and review those without any other studying, i’m sure you’ll pass. if you take 5 you’ll probably pass.

How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

Plus my current financial situation is stressful and I accepted the offer on certain conditions but now hr or the firm but saying we can't committ you. Any suggestions.

This is my first job in a large corporate company, and I’m trying to gauge how long it normally takes to move from entry level to another internal position in the insurance industry. I have been applying internally for a year now and I am wondering if this is normal or if my company is just slow? I am a top performer, with great metrics, and I have some wonderful connections I’ve made who support me. I just can’t seem to move up. How long did it take you to move up? How many tries did it take?
