A year and a half from UK. It's mostly concrete and no discernible historical culture, at least not enough on Indigenous heritage, but I love the people, attitudes and opportunities. Some great places to eat or socialise. Not keen on the high prices of regular items, but higher salaries here, so it balances.
I an Leaving Toronto soon for the 🇺🇸, primarily for the higher salaries (and hopefully better weather)
7 years now, moved here for school then stayed for work. Didn’t like it the first few years but Toronto grew on me, esp after visiting other big cities. The safety, diversity, opps for growth as an immigrant and POC are endless, the cost of living is steep but proportional to the salary you can make
Born and raised. Love the food scene here personally as my #1. Love that I can get fairly decent food from so many, many different cultures in the city.
I know there is a lot Toronto can still improve on but when I had colleagues visiting from San Francisco, it really gave me perspective. They were in awe at how clean and safe it was.
3 years. I discover new reasons to like it every time I visit a different city.
Cost of living to wages is decent for me compared to NYC or SF (worse for some fields). Like the big city feel without being too crowded or dirty and most of our problems exist at the same level or worse in other big cities
6 years. Walkability, diversity (people and food). Ain’t never leaving.
1 year! It’s very easy to meet people, good food diversity, and the gay community is great. The proximity to toronto island / beach in the summer is also v nice.
5 years now. I love it, but thinking about making a move out west.
One thing that’s great: the TTC. People love to shit on it, but we really have it so good compared to others. Our bus network is probably the best in North America.
4 months. I like the combination of calm small streets and parks with vibrant urban areas. Also the choice if food is so huge. Though, I still try to find some groceries similar to those in my country.
Overall, I feel safe and good here
20 years! I love how easily I can travel to Philly, NYC, Boston from Toronto. But what isn't there to love?! World class restaurants, great live music, tons of culture and you're not in the U.S. lmao
Entering my 13th year here.
-the food
-less racism than in small Ontario cities
-more job opportunities
Born and raised. I love the diversity, cleanliness and safety. It’s basically a mini New York without the crime
2 years. I don't know yet still waiting to be wowed
If it’s two years you likely moved shortly after pandemic started. Or during pandemic. Or just before. In either case, completely different experience I’m sure. Give it time! And explore!
10+ years!
Food and drinks and the people are great. It’s not as exciting as NYC but it’s cleaner, friendlier, and less crowded.
Tho as a millennial, I started to feel like I am getting older at downtown Toronto lol planning on moving to somewhere else soon with my partner.
Born and raised in the suburbs, and have lived downtown for almost 2 years now. I like how everything is within walking distance for the most part and for a large, urban city, there are parking options available, should you wish to drive. I also appreciate that it is relatively clean for a large city and less homeless/drugs presence than other urban cities.
3 weeks. It seems nice
Raised in Toronto, no place like here
First question - 4 months
Second question - how quickly you can come to the conclusion that you need to GTFO of here
Very fresh for me, about a year. I love it because I am originally from Chicago and this place feels a lot like Chicago. Massive urban area, but still with some charm. People here appear to be just as friendly too, which is always a plus.

My whole life!
Expensive place to live but diversity and good people
