You have no experience, so you have no leverage. You should wait at least a year.
@pwc1 - I'm so glad I went through 4 years of college and turned down three other offers to come network here. I'll be sure to highlight my networking skills in my resume. 😆
Keep thinking its a joke. 7months on the bench is your fault bro. Anyone that tells you otherwise is fucking lying to you. Yeah, I said it. Networking. After 3months, blame the firm, after 6months blame yourself
Yeah corporate budgets are picking up now... Wait another month to see what comes up.
Since September? Sure, learn networking bro
I won't apologize for making light of the situation considering I didn't ask to be placed in a SL that doesn't sell well and hasn't had a simple PMO role open for weeks that someone with no prior experience like myself can get. I can either laugh about it or resent leadership for carelessly placing me in a SL that's known to have people benched for months at a time and considered to be a specialized SL making difficult to land a role outside of it. I won't blame myself for being benched considering I've built a network across all three service areas in my local office and have been contacted to submit my resume for project opportunities and to no avail. I can only blame myself for falling prey to the money and accepting this offer over others because it paid the most. #MoMoneyMoProblems
So like I said blame yo sef ;)
Agree with Dallas. That's ridiculous.
I'm in the same boat OP. Thinking about exit opps/lateral to another firm. Stuck on an internal project but spend most of my time on pursuits. You're not alone
That's insane, I also joined in September, was staffed coming in. I went on the bench this week and already have a project for next week...
^As a first year, how do you go about "networking" when you don't have a pool of people to go to/and have already exhausted all your options? I'm assuming said person has done his due diligence and has already taken advantage of the attending firm sponsored social events, consulted his management, resource manager, and any other managers within his network.
What SL are you?
@d3..: loads of assumptions you've made there for a first year.
Atlanta: yeah, I've been heavily involved in multiple initiatives and have built a decent network so far, but haven't done any PRDs.
@San Francisco - everyone I know was staffed upon starting or within two weeks. I doubt it's common within the firm, but I did meet someone in my SL that was hired as a consultant and was on the bench for his first 7 months. I guess it's common in my SL.
@D2 - Oracle 😐
Federal Oracle, to be precise
