Usually just a day or two.
You can also tell them someone else reached out for freelance and you want to check in to make sure the freelance contract is still coming because they’re still your top choice.
If they’re serious about it, the contract will come within 24 hours.
They’re likely getting approvals from higher ups, maybe even client. It just comes down to financials.
Do you have a templated version you can offer to send them? It might help speed things up if their resources manager is swamped.
Depends on the size of the company, how urgent the need is, and how long the contract is. I’ve experienced everything from next day to 2 weeks. Smaller companies usually take longer so this is probably why. Just check in if you haven’t heard from them. I doubt you’re being jerked around but it’s also possible the contract won’t get approved or the scope changes.

Even w a contract it doesn’t mean I will actually get to start or finish the gig. It’s sort of a fun thing to have. I’m looking for an apartment so it will make me look like a solid choice.
Last one for me took over a week.

I am just thinking of it as more time to find a gig that I really want
It’s also possible that the project is in flux and they’re trying to determine what they actually need and when.

Still no contract. I can’t even. It’s been a week.
Just hold tight. They’ll let you know if it’s not coming. Did they give you a start date? If it’s next week, I’m sure you’ll get it tomorrow
