Hi
I have a current CTC of 6.6 and Mastercard is offering 8.9 (including variable ) . I also have an offer from infosys of 10 ( including variable). Which one should I pick considering work life balance and appraisal. My entire doubt is that will they bring me on market rate after appraisals as currently they are not offering very good hike.

I have been planning for a layoff for over two years. Best to have a plan and not need it vs need it and not have it. I can weather 12 months or so with money in a high yield savings account getting 3.5% and a brokerage account with money across a variety of investments that would be able to sustain us for 12+ months if necessary. But that would also mean significant lifestyle changes. But doable.
I pay most if the bills, am the primary breadwinner (am not independently wealthy so I have to work), no side hustle (no time working 60 hours a week), not living with parents. I could last 16 months being really frugal without tapping into a 401K loan (and without counting the small unemployment available in my state). 3 years ago I was laid off and it took me 10 months to find my next role. I was quite nervous about it taking much longer. I have been shoring up my emergency fund more since then, to be able to weather another layoff during this difficult economic and job market and with AI reducing roles available in my knowledge-based industry.
Nope, we would lose absolutely everything. Living paycheck to paycheck is the worst and I make good money.
