For your average job search, I’d say most people get between 20-200 rejections. 🤷🏻♀️

I’ve gone through cycles where I literally sent over 200 applications before getting a job

Interviewed at only a handful of places. Less than 10 different firms; maybe closer to 5.
Been trying to exit Accenture for about a year and kept a tracking spreadsheet.
My funnel right now is
Networking calls or "black hole applications" - 442
Initial recruiter phone screen / initial interview - 67
Mid funnel interviews / take home - 27
Late stage / panel interviews - 14
Confirmed as final interview / appear like final round - 8

Mostly alumni reach-outs and friends of friends. I should have kept better records but estimate that I had networking calls/information 2-4 times per month. So probably 30-40 calls so far this year.
My profile is good, which is we I get a decent number of initial screens/interviews. However, I've been in Strategy since graduating from undergrad and it has been my only job. As I interview I realize that I lack critical industry skills and making or supervising the creation of flashy decks and BS-ing clients about delivery vs. SOW.... Have very little value outside of strategy consulting.
On average it takes me about 3 months to land something - sending out a few applications a day. So let’s say ~400
Haven’t before - started doing it now. Too early to know if it makes much of a difference but I think it does, but ever so slightly.
Very normal. I’ve applied to over 200 jobs in the past 3 years, got plenty of rejections before getting interviews.
There is no norm, I had a job after one rejection and also after many rejections. This time I have a tracker and tracking absolutely everything.
A job search is a f/t job. Expect 3-4 followups per 100 applications. Getting referrals is a much better way to go.
Referrals in person or online?
Lol I'm at 60 applications with 31 declines.
