Hi everyone,
I have a total 9+ work ex in Devops and Release Management. Did an executive mba with a goal of breaking into Program management but got recruited into Management Consulting . In this company for the past 3 months.
I feel that my overall skills are better off in a TPM/Program Management role.
My overall experience makes me eligible for most PM roles.
My question is how do I prep for a TPM role since I don’t have development or Scrum Master exposure. Amazon India VMware BrowserStack Inc.

I wonder if it would be worth giving the feedback that they should be more respectful of applicants’ time… at least after the third interview!
And after all that, had they told you they’d selected a different candidate for the role, would you still feel like you’ve wasted your time? Or that you’d learned something new and grown in a new way? Apple had me go through 12 interviews over 18 months. I didn’t get the job ultimately but I learned so much about how creative companies that aren’t agencies discern value and potential. It’s helping me do my current job better because I hire a lot of people but now my interviews with candidates go more like Apple’s did for me. There is a plan, it’s just not yours.
Sounds like a waste of time. You do you though.

Tbh, it’s a red flag if you tell a company you’re in the final rounds/expecting an offer from elsewhere and they don’t expedite your interview process, let alone feel confident to immediately place you in the final round of interviews.
It’s a hard lesson to learn, but at least you know better now.
I also had another interview at different company recently which went really well, but then the HM reached out saying they wouldn’t be hiring for the role until January. Is it the nature of the economy right now, companies tightening their belts or is it just a vague and “polite” way to decline you as a candidate?
When they told you that they would only hire in Jan, did the HM give you next steps or put a follow up meeting on your calendar? Because if you can wait until then, maybe that’s a positive spin?
I went throught the exact same scenario: interviewed, got a verbal offer and then got told that hiring can only be done in Q1, 2023. The only difference with your story is that the HM called me to tell me that the job is 100% mine once the hiring freeze is up, and they scheduled a follow-up/status meeting with me for Nov this year. I am currently working at another company, so waiting is not a biggie but your situation may be different.
Every place has their own process (not necessarily good reasons, but nevertheless…)
It’d be nice if they provided context as to why it’s on hold (client/budget cuts, internal shifts or transfer considerations - which you can ask for clarity on). It’s never a waste of time if you’ve made contacts with people you could run into in future work circles. Sometimes things don’t align in the time we expect, but can lead to even better opportunities later on.
If you feel like you’ve really gained nothing - not even from a networking perspective, then maybe you dodged a bullet? Sounds like a win either way, really.
