I'm a baby UX designer and am curious how others landed their first gig? I'm in GA's 6 month program and we haven't developed portfolios, is it possible to get an entry level position with just work samples?

I lived in tampa in my early 20s and am now in my late 30s and looking to move back. One of the reason I left is because I felt I had too much energy for the city for a single young professional, but now husband is from there and we have a kid but we are both social people. Do you guys find it easy to meet interesting people and has the city gotten any more fun?

Do you think you and your significant other should have similar personalities? My significant other and I are doing long distance and I feel like when I FaceTime with him, I emote more and show interest by asking more questions but from his end, he doesn’t always have a reaction or just nods, and it makes me feel like he’s uninterested. On his end he sees it as he’s comfortable.

My brother is going through some really intense chemo so him and his wife are often recovering at their house for a week without going out.

Since they can’t take any visitors I would love to send them some sort of at home activity kit (wine tasting or anything!) to keep them busy during these lockdown weeks.

Please share any suggestions you have below! No limits in terms of activity or budget. I have about 8-9 weeks that I plans to cover.

How do you handle people’s kids showing up on video meetings? Screaming, kicking, hamming it up, (wasting time.) Everyone else is coo-ing…I’m not a kids person. Heard a technique which is to drop off the call bc you “assume the call is over” (which seems like a great way to get fired especially if it’s a way higher up’s kids - plus it feels rather passive aggressive.) Let's say Family consists of husband , wife and a kid . I understand we will get good facilities, education, cleanliness , good air etc , however I wanted to check whether people gel up easily in the new environment? Don't they feel loneliness/ difficult to adjust? Do they look for similar asian nationalities to kill boredom?

Question about inclusion…. I’ve been teaching inclusion for 5 years so I’m still a newb, but a first year coworker of mine said she got points off on her observation because her kids were scattered in the classroom and she was having to move from kid to kid to assist. I have a nice job, decent salary, i work out and eat healthy, maintain my health, read 3 to 4 books every month, dont have any personal commitments (single), in my early 30s and things cant be any better. I wanted to share that I am in my first job as ui/ux expert and I am the only ux/ui person in the team. I am expected to take care of entire research and design of the product. It becomes very overwhelming as the product that I am working on is in a early phase and I am expected to think about ui as well as ux and also design entire app on my own.There is no user interview or user testing happening as my project manager thinks it can be done after product is launched.
