Is it an all or nothing thing? E.g. you’re out, or your share is reduced?
I’ve seen some situations where there isn’t enough revenue or market for a particular offering and a partner is moved from partner to MD. Very good talented people who enjoy the firm and want stay and sometimes that move works out for both the individual and firm.
Some get on probation and counseled out.
