Just wanted to share a tip for all of those who are looking to connect with former employees - there is a filter function at Linkedin which allows you to do so (and you can combine that with the filter on location - then you can almost always find at least 2-3 people you can reach out to and ask about the firm and practice group you are thinking of lateralling).

Cold applied for an awesome role, had an interview with hiring manager, recruiter, and given a pretty hefty assignment that I’m really proud of nailing. They followed up with an email asking for 4-5 days that I am available for a full day of interviews. Hi! I recently switched to a new employer, who promised in writing on email that they’d start my GC process right after I complete 3 months with the firm. I’m currently on the 4th month and the process has not yet begun.

A firm approached me with an offer because I had worked with some partners who recently joined. They said it’s not really a “practice” of the firm to guarantee the bonus and that they want to properly incentivize people to hit hours… but I now have data from current associates and ones who had offers (including recently this past month) who received guarantees — nothing exceptional about their circumstances either.

I have an offer from Mayer Brown as a senior associate and they have told me that a guaranteed full EOY bonus is not standard or a market ask. My offer is in a non-NY office and the posting for this position has been up for six months.

BH cinci ohio is a great place. Job openings are on their site. Growing like crazy. The work is here! And Cinci is affordable place to live.

I want to switch markets transfer to my current firm’s office in that city. But lateral market is hot and bonuses are generous. Anybody heard of your current firm matching competing lateral bonuses so that they can keep you as an internal lateral? Or will firms match lateral bonus offers even if you aren’t moving cities in an attempt to keep you at the firm?
