Easy way to start: everything you say or write, try to trim about 40% and still have the same impact. If you can speak impactfully and concisely you’re half way there
(2/2) but keep getting feedback that I need to further simplify the output I create and how I present insights. Any specific advice / tips on successfully up-leveling comms? Does executive communication ever become second nature? Or will I always have to moderate the "analyst within"?
It will become second nature along the way . Mostly you watch and learn from your seniors
Hi buddy! I'm in exactly the same situation as you. What really helped me was a rotation through PEG: As technical MBAs we usually do well on client management and problem solving, but CFR is a thing to get used to as we don't have the milage of home-grown Cs. The fast repetition of PEG teaches you exactly that.
Spot on BCG. Sorry for using company jargon, but I'm pretty certain OP understands ;)
Know your audience and create a story line they understand.
What a technical manager needs to know vs a business manager vs a CFO vs a CEO are all very different. Get rid of the irrelevant stuff. Speak their language. Translate technical into it for them.
