It is same across. You have to be better than the bottom 10% on your team.
Example - goal is 35000 lines of code. You end up writing 42000. However, all your team members wrote 50k+. Well, lord save you.
There is relative grading, stack ranking and bell curve across amazon.
It might just be me, but it seems that people who are asking this question might want to think about whether they’re going to be the right fit for the job in the first place. If you’re worried about placing in the bottom 10% of your grade, then you may want to re-evaluate your skills in that position. I work at Raytheon and we have a yearly group of people placed in PIP as well, though I realize that the culture is more competitive at Amazon and they may have a higher demand for skill so more capable engineers may end up in PIP at Amazon. But along those lines, maybe a highly competitive and technical position isn’t right for you if you think you might be fall in the bottom of your grade.
Never met anyone who has been PIP’d
My team in ProServe doesn’t have the PIP culture
A3, I had exactly the same question.
