Have you had a conversation with your manager, or whoever is assigning you the work? If not, I would definitely try that and would frame it as the impact it is having on you, and don't your other team members into it. I believe your perception, but it's just going to be a lot more effective if you frame it as "I have an unsustainable amount of work on my plate right now, how can we adjust this" vs "I have so much work and others on my team don't".
The pay thing is tough too, I would approach that as a separate conversation from the workload. You could do it together, but I would only do that if you're willing to continue taking on this level of work for more pay, because that's likely what they'll take from the conversation if you connect the two issues.
Yeah definitely agree the bandwidth approach is best. I've tried bringing it up before but it always seems like I end up getting more work not much later. Maybe I need to do a better job displaying my impact for people to know how much is on my plate.
+1 for bringing it up with your boss and contextualizing it as a bandwidth issue. Don't bring your coworkers into it, leave it to your boss to figure out how to reallocate the work to lighten your load.
Yeah agree I won't want to point to coworkers. Just thought I'd offer some extra context in the bowl. Its frustrating.
You definitely need to have a conversation with your manager, and probably a lot more ongoing communication going forward. In fairness, sometimes tasks can look the same on paper, but once we get into them it becomes clear that a project could be more difficult or more involved than anticipated. If that's happening, speak up early rather than later. When you realize you're getting swamped, try to get your workload adjusted.
I feel like I keep flagging stuff and it might get solved temporarily, but then I just get absolutely wrecked again with more dumped on my plate which is frustrating.
