Where I work they're extremely lax about specific hours, as long as your job gets done. We have people that work 6am-2pm and people that work 11am-7pm. You may need to adjust to make meetings if you typically work off hours, though. And people regularly work from home when their job allows it.
They don’t care as long as you eventually show up and work your full shift
Luckily my position is flexible...but I often come in as soon as I can because of traffic and workflow.
We're pretty rigid about everyone being in on time. It's one of those things that isn't really enforced beyond peer pressure. People are just expected to be at their desks and that's what happens. I'm guessing that if I was perpetually late someone would say something, but it's never gotten to that point.
My job doesn't care as long as people get their work done. If certain people are running late on their deadlines, that's when management starts to crack down a little bit. But for the most part, people manage their own schedules.
We are very flexible and it’s one of the things I really appreciate about my job. As long as you get your work done, no one is really watching the clock. Some people start their mornings WFH and then come in at lunch.
My workplace is flexible. As long as everything is done by the deadline and you are doing quality work, you can set your own schedule. Still, everyone is pretty much in by 9:30 am.
My job doesn’t care just that we log on during the core hours. When I was in academia in office my boss also never cared to check. Love it
USC medical lab, if you are not management. Expect to be on the dot for your scheduled time to clock in or out. NO incidental overtime.
One minute late equals a half point penalty. They fire you after you reach 7 points.
This really depends on your supervisor (if you have one) and whether you’re vested or not; and if you have enough annual leave/PTO saved to use it. I was a graduate teaching assistant at New Mexico State University department of applied statistics. I had to maintain a minimum office hours of 10 hours a week and had to be present at all lectures—I don’t know that side of the policy because I’ve never tested it but I wouldn’t call it strict be any means; the associate prof. really didn’t monitor or report those hours; however, if he sent a request to be present for exam or paper grading I imagine that if I didn’t report I would have heard about it or received a negative review. This colleagues who seem to show up on their own hours are probably either vested/tenured or near retirement. This is also common with government employees and corporate staff who are vested and have plenty of annual leave time. The federal government is strict with essential employees even if they are vested or have tenure. Also, Amazon has one of the most lenient attendance policies ever created by mankind, though.
