How do they treat lateral hires in this case. ?
Are they safe if ask for release from project ?
Thinking like i am a critical resourse in team very normal during 3-6 yoe. I used to think same when i was working in my previous company. We had a team of 8 people one by one 5 experience teammate left from the team and all replacement was freshers from the bench. There was a time when i am always into my laptop for fixing issues. And then one day i thought why not resign for onshore, i resigned thiking i will get onshore as i was not intrested in retention offer and made it clear during resignation. But nothing happened on mail and only got verbal assurance.
Finally i left and after that in first 3-4 month there were so many client escalation and SLA breach but things got cool down with time and that project still running as usual. I know it from my friend working in different team in same account.
So everyone is replaceable in IT with some inconvenience.
I know I am replaceable but I have asked my manager to release me but he is asking why , you want to work in which technology we have everything. They are not ready to release. Manager is telling me we have retained you and everything. What is tha issue?

Bhai,daily go to your manager desk and put your item one by one on his/her desk like munnabhai then you wil see they will release you from project nd if you want they will release from TCS as well....bhai bahar nikal apne aura se nothing is critical tu jayega next banda 2 din mein mil jayega unko.

We are not interested in knowing from Company's standpoint. We need to know what happens with the employee. Obv after leaving the organization it's all clear. But what about asking for release from project
