While everyone always says to just transfer the points to airlines, you have to confirm there is award availability first. On very popular routes (which seems to be all routes these days) there may be no award availability or it’s shockingly expensive (like 250k one way economy to Africa).
Points are useless if you don’t use them, so constantly trying to get the highest value instead of just using them for what you want is only going to get you so far.
Something I see a lot of people do: transfer the points 1:1 to non US airlines and book tickets with points. 100K could get you a business/first class round trip to Asia or Europe

Is it ever worth to redeem for Amazon purchases?
No. Because, you can get a 1 cents value by booking travel directly from Amex travel.
The only time it makes sense to use is when there’s a 50% offer for using Amex points on Amazon, and then too just use 1 point to avail the offer.
