How would react if a former manager is asking you to meet up to talk about your career? This is a manager from a job I just left recently so I feel that it’s very odd.

Personally, I would love to hear what someone would have to offer me.

You can never be 100 percent sure about that. When I left my last job after 11 years, my manager (25 years) and the finance manager (10 years) left just a few months later.

like

I would go and hear them out, but they need to pay for lunch.

Adding that this manager also hired me but wasn’t my direct supervisor before I left due to a re org. And that I feel if she wanted feedback she could’ve asked before I left since we did meet before I did.

If you are really led by God, then only after 6-12 months into your new role

You were not very clear at all in either of your posts..what?

I would talk with her. No harm to do so no?

That is true. It just seems there’s some ulterior motive and I highly doubt it’s for a job offer or else she would’ve tried to keep me before I left. We also weren’t close either.

The only thing that would make me say don’t meet with her is if you went to work for a competitor and she’s trying to get that information from you to bring back to the previous company. If that’s not the case, then there’s no harm in grabbing some coffee and chatting with her.

I have accepted an offer for the role of Director of Data Science & Analytics and I'll be working with old colleagues. I am very excited. I haven't given notice yet because I am waiting for the background check to complete, but my boss just asked me about traveling to a meeting in November. I start at the new job Oct 25. I'm really struggling for how to respond. If I were not leaving it is absolutely a meeting I should be at. I don't want to respond with a lie. Any dvice on how to respond?

Just got let go and my manager said part of it was because I was looking for other jobs. I didn't look for other jobs at work, so I'm not sure how they could have known that unless a coworker snitched on me. Is it worth it to try and find out who or should I just leave it? Can't deny that I'm seriously pissed off about it.

My VP asked my fellow team member to take on a task simply because of her race to help them land a grant renewal. We’re both women of color but since I didn’t match the target audience I was not asked even though the task is on a project I am overseeing. We’re both offended with how this was handled by the VP, are we overreacting?

If an employee mentions something disparaging or accusatory about their manager during an exit interview, how would you handle? What happens if what the employee said is slanderous and a “he said/she said” situation? I.e. employee claimed the manager made a disparaging remark about an item of clothing being worn by someone in accordance with their beliefs. If you opt to share the feedback with the manager, would the manager have a legal case against the company or former employee?

Should i email my boss then follow up with a call? Or the other way around?

The "confrontation" is really difficult for me lol. I actually like my current boss and she's been helpful and made me feel like she looks out for me too. But the new opportunity is too good to pass up on (huge increase to pay. No concerns on the team since ive worked with those people in the past in a different company)

PEOPLE DO MAKE MISTAKES!! but My manager reacts very rudely everytime with me, And all seniors who are with him around 10+ years will assign tickets to me and they monitor me continuously.

I never had any conflicts with anyone, but i felt that they all connered me. I had a call with my director and senior director and explained about this on my last day

i never met my teammates in office since i joined and resigned in covid.

Networking question here. A retired partner at the firm I used to work out reached out to me recently about attending an afternoon during the week (b4 4/30) with one of his long time clients. The partner and I have kept in touch since I joined my new firm and I feel like his invitation is a great networking opportunity since the client (who I have worked with before) is on a number of boards. Torn as how to request off as an S3. Could materialize to nothing but could be good for reconnecting.

Floored: Filed an appearance (electronically) that was just accepted and noticed OC. Appearing before a reasonable and competent judge. Courtesy notice to judge, not me (and I double-checked, I was copied) from OC starts: “This matter is set for...” No greeting to the judge whatsoever. Has WFH or no personal contact with colleagues stripped us of presenting a modicum of civility, even toward judges?

I’m a new analyst at a PE firm, and my associate keeps blaming me for things she does wrong. Like she will tell me I made the wrong change, even though she is the one who changed it. Or in calls with other people, she won’t take responsibility for things that she told me to do that the other person calls out as wrong. How can I handle this situation without making her mad but also not letting her step all over me?

I’ll be asking my last job for a letter of recommendation but I’m not sure who to ask. My boss, who is lovely and would write an amazing LOR. Or my boss's boss who would put minimal effort in but it would have more weight.

So my VP at my previous company felt bad and refused to speak to me or attend my farewell after my resignation. His reason was that I somehow betrayed his trust as he had promoted me just last year (after keeping the position open for 4 months and letting me take additional work load after the previous SM left!). Does this make any sense? I mean where does this sense of entitlement or ownership over the employees come from? No wonder the company in question is kind of facing a literal exodus!

It has been a month since I have left my prior firm. My former co-workers continue to reach out to ask about questions about matters/assignment that I worked on while I was at my prior firm. This information they could readily find themselves (e.g., which ancillaries are open w/ the client). How do I politely tell them to leave me alone?
