I accidentally saw a teammate's offer letter and realized I'm getting paid way less than everyone else on the team. Same role, similar performance. Do I have any leverage to fix this, or did I just get lowballed from the start?

How does your salary compare to your market value? A company isn't going to give you a pay increase purely because they hired someone else for more, but they may be open to discussing a raise based on your market value and contributions to the company. I wouldn't bring up that you know your coworker's salary.

like

agree with this! I would compare to the market salary

You probably just got low balled from the start. Not a lot you can do about it. In the future, look up the average wage for that position and start in the high middle if you are "average" and negotiate down. If you are great at your job, start at the top and negotiate down. .Reiterate to them the things you are good at and relate those skills to what the position is for and let them know you are to be valued. This is when you let them think your poop doesn't stink.

How.long ago did you start? Did you take the first offer? Maybe they negotiated better thsn you

I know how much it hurts when you learn such information. You may not want to say anything to anyone right now, instead use this time to gather your own observations. Are there things only you do, are there any degree/cert difference etc. When you are at work take note of who takes long breaks or extra long lunch. Other people doing others work . Work hourly pay and benefits package average. Ask your boss to sit down and discuss what you saw, what you found in your research and see what she said. She may not realize how much work you are doing.

I agree. But don’t throw anyone under the bus unless what you discover is truely egregious . And start looking for another job right away. That way you have two lines of leverage without ruining your work relationships.

like

How long have you been there? You could definitely go and ask for a raise if you have put in some time there. As long as you can justify it, there is no harm in presenting the evidence and asking for a raise.

like

You have leverage if you have something to hold over management... such as quitting or an offer from another employer. Starting a revolution internally isn't a great bit of leverage, but I guess that would be your other option.

If so, wondering what your recommendations are and or if there are new cards out there I haven't heard of yet. CSP
Marriott Bonvoy Boundless
Citi double cash
Random card (used to be uber)

Hi guys currently I'm working in a project with very stringent timelines. Sometimes we need to put more than 13-14 hrs each day. There are 4 members in my team. Two are involved in database prt and me and my lead are involved in the front end and middle layer prt. Somehow my lead is not at all pleased with my work. And even if I try to talk to him for something he is completely rude. Sometimes it makes me that I m completely useless. Even the other team members are following the lead

What's the best form of compensation to ask for and why?

My employers' CEO just announced that they just received $7 million from investors. He wants to use that money to offer incentives to employees that hussle and drive more revenue for the company. We're not sure what those incentives look like yet, but here are some post-announcement rumors from my co-workers:

Cash bonuses, raises, profit-sharing, company equity, 401k match, etc.

Got offered 68k after 2 years as a contractor (62.5k) doing project management/business admin in a tech department at a Fortune 500 bank. I have an A.S degree and working on my bachelor’s/masters may 2024. I negotiated to 84k NYC. I have seen interns get offered 38 per hour (79k) for internship positions with a similar role.

Thoughts? Should I go higher? I do my job well that’s why they decided to keep me as a contractor after my internship.

I’m interviewing for a marketing manager role at a company based in SF. I’m genuinely excited about the role and the company but we’ve yet to discuss salary. I expect to be asked at some point, but my research has given me a VERY broad range. So I’m here to do a bit more research. I’ve got 5 very relevant years of experience and will have an associate manager directly reporting to me. Are there any marketers out there who can share their salaries in similar regions and experience levels?
