I am a C who has been working as a SC on a very large project for the past 1.5 years. I recently got made the M due to staffing limitations (M and SC both had to roll off). I feel like I am in way over my head. I didn’t get a choice as to whether or not I wanted to accept this new position and the workload/stress is too much. People tell me this is good for my career, but I just feel like I am being taken advantage of and working 2 levels above my pay grade for free. Idk what to do.

I’m four months into my job and I got put onto a PIP. I worked so hard to break into IB, put up all the hours and even working 2am nights for weeks, learned a ton, and improved a lot along the way as the sole analyst yet this happens. I’m extra worried because it doesn’t seem there’s IB analyst positions out there. Im really hoping come January more positions come up but I’m just praying they don’t fire me until then. So I’m only contributing to 401k enough to get employer match, and I’m saving an additional ~20% and putting 90% of that into my vanguard mutual funds.
