Received an offer as Engagement Director from Salesforce (CSG, pre sales, L9). Great benefits package, 40% increase in total comp and better WLB.
I do love the people in my practice and current client, but career trajectory has stalled after taking parental leave earlier this year and (yet another) change in leadership.
Realistically, making to Director is 2-3 years away and will require sacrificing time with my family that I am not prepared to give up.
Should I stay or should I go?

Sounds like you’re counting in a bonus which you should never do
I would caution moving out of the big 4 to a smaller, lesser known one without a big comp increase. Also, look longer term and move only if you want to stay in consulting. Exit opportunities to industry are easier out of the big four.
Bonuses are variable comp for a reason. I’d only move for a 15-25%+ base change. No bonus is guaranteed, even if it “normally” is.
Previous big 4 HR overstated bonus by 15% if it’s not in writing, likely overstated/not going to come true
It may be on paper but again never guaranteed
Very broad statements. You would need to break down the base and bonus Of both to have a reasonable comparison
Position and career growth would also play a big role
Thank you both, appreciate the perspective
poor kpmg
Kpmg folks are not for sale
Thank you all for your input. I have decided I am not going to move forward with this offer
I was laid off from my company right before yearly bonus. Don’t bank on it.
Thanks AC1 exactly my thoughts
Don't think so. What's the difference in base? Bonus isn't guaranteed and firms lie about it (Deloitte overstated my bonus by an order of magnitude).
14% or 25k that’s before the normal year end increment. Will likely be 7% or so after YE adjustment (if I don’t get promoted; less than that if I get promoted). Target bonus is 20-40%, at current firm 10-15%
I would leave for a 30% increase in base to a smaller firm.
Base. They can promise me any bonus and I wouldnt care.

I might not leave for the money but might leave for the team if current team is toxic.
Not the case...really like the people I have worked with
How are you trending relative to your peers in terms of promotions, etc.
Good, in discussions for early promotion either this year (early) and if not this year, next
Yes. I did a lateral for 15% increase to my based and a $25K signing bonus. I left due to the toxic work environment. I am much happier now.
Bonus should be good if:
1. It’s clearly stated in the contract
2. Historically the company has been good at funding the bonus.
You can ask the recruiter if the bonus pool was fully funded in the last 3 years. Also, I’d be a bit careful if it’s a small firm.
In your situation, it would gather all these infos and work out an reasonable expected % for the bonus, then use that number to make decision.
