depending on the level of transparency that exists at your health institution, you do have an opportunity to have a transparent conversation with human resources. If you can get your husbands sister to also participate. But that would also require that you guys have the same or comparable experience. It could also be that he negotiated.
You can say you would like to review your compensation as you believe you are being underpaid. Then you can say market research shows a person of my skill set with yoe should be making X. I have an updated version of my resume for internal review.
Ahhh this is awful. I'm so sorry. I would frankly talk to your supervisor and try to negotiate a raise for yourself. Or talk to HR. I think it's a good idea to talk directly to your employers and try to get this resolved.

Seriously, you shouldn't have to put up with that. You deserve to be paid fairly for your work, no matter what your race or gender is.
So what I would do is talk to your boss about it.
This will definitely get you fired in nursing. Yes it is supposed to be illegal to fire someone for talking about pay in some states so what will happen is some other reason to fire you will be cooked up. I have seen this multiple times in my 39 year career and have had a travel contract not renewed because I was a listener in a group of white nurses talking about which travel agency paid more or had better benefits. A staff nurse heard the conversation and reported everyone all travelers
