I am an MBA (Finance) student from a Tier-3 college and have cleared the NISM Research Analyst certification. I am currently confused about which skills to prioritize for a strong career in finance.
I am considering SAP, Advanced Excel, Power BI, SQL, FMVA, Data Analytics (Basics), ERP, etc.
Based on your experience, could you please suggest a structured learning path and prioritize the order? Also, kindly mention any non-negotiable certifications essential for a finance professional.
Thank you.

Excel (Advance) - FMVA - data analytics/power BI.

Focus more on the learning aspect.

Certifications will help only if basics are clear. CFA, FRM, IBBI can be taken (depending on your interest area, not mandatory)

Skills - Financial statements analysis, models basics, Annual report and basic segments, Presentation skills, Report writing(equity research, business, CIM etc). Communication & interpersonal skills, meaningful networking

Best way to learn - Internships (in FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, private equity , equity research, wealth/asset,risk/portfolio/fund management, founder office, investor relations, corporate development, consulting/advisory). PhD research assistant

Open sources - screener, various market reports, equity research report by fund houses, analyst academy (youtube), other youtube channels, Damodaran website, forage webite, quality podcasts on these topics

Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.

Coming from ACN, senior analyst, 3yrs total experience so far & wanting to get into the data analytics/BI work. Currently have had experience working with SQL developer, OBIEE/OBIA, Teradata in ERP and Healthcare projects. I also have my AWS Cloud Practitioner Cert, hoping to eventually get the Data Analytics Cert later. What are my chances of finding a role with another company that'll let me work in BI/data analytics and build up my skill at the same time? Been thinking of leaving ACN.

I have been looking at the curriculums for Harvard Business School's Master of Business Administration and Harvard Extension School's Master's in Management. They both have the same requirements, generally speaking, including a field immersion course that serves as a capstone in the Master's in Management, which is fairly new. If I am not able to gain admission to Harvard Business School, but wanted a similar educational experience to become a consultant, should I attend Harvard Extension?
