I am being offered a promotion within my company to be an AE. I believe most BDRs spend at least 3 years in the role before getting to consider a promotion, but I've been fortunate enough to have managers who believe in my capabilities. How can I prepare for this change? And how do I not let the pressure to keep up with the expectations from me crush me?

Wow congratulations. How long did you spend as a BDR? I'd say start shadowing top AEs to see their daily strategies and ask lots of questions. Sharpen your product knowledge, get familiar with the full sales cycle, and work on your discovery and closing skills. Good luck!

Congrats! Most people don't get that kind of recognition very often so that speaks highly of you and your company. I'd definitely talk to the AEs on your team and ask for advice, see if you can perhaps find someone to mentor you as you start this new role.

Is the CPA designation worth it? For me it would take me 1 year of PREP courses and 2 years of PEP until i can write the CFE. And I am 27 years old right now. Also wondering if it would be crazy to pursue the CPA while learning how to code to be a developer as well?

Hi peeps, Looking for thoughts on adding a social media feed to the homepage of our B2B Tech Industry website. My thoughts are that it will help get our webinars and personality on our homepage without overly cluttering it up, but does it also navigate people away from our page? Maybe a banner ad on our homepage for the webinars is better? TYIA

I left my job about a year ago to relocate, make sure it was the right decision and start a side business in the mean time. Now I’m actively looking for a new sales position, have tons of experience, but am struggling to even get a response from job apps. I am wondering if this is because of my employment gap? I don’t have my side business listed on my resume because I don’t feel like I have enough positive “stats” to report yet given it’s new. Any advice or recommendations?

Hey FishBowl Friends, so I’m currently trying to break into tech sales/FinTech and I feel that due to my previous work history, I might not look like the ideal candidate on paper but I’m an extremely fast learner and very coachable. I had a job interview for a role that I really want. The hiring manager scheduled me for an interview and did not show up. Emailed me an hour later stating that he got super busy and couldn’t attend, and would like to reschedule. This is a major red flag, but I can’t help but feel that I am missing out since this role pays 50% over what I currently make. Should I let the recruiter know? What’s your take on this?

“Job hopper” and “quiet quitting” are all schemes made up by boomers to make you think everything is the employees fault. When in reality people are just getting out of bad situations. Older companies do whatever they can to pay you the least amount and get the max work out of you. Except our generation will just leave amid we’re being mistreated, not complain for 35 years making 50k and 0 advancement.

“We are fully remote”

Me : Awesome so no travel required at all?

“Well you need to come to the office 3 times a week and the other two you will be popping into potential customers on site”

Me: So not remote at all…?

“No we’re remote, you get two days traveling not in the office”

Boomers and Gen X HR teams are FUNNY.
