EY India I am currently year 4 Manager at EY India and have offer from PwC India for Senior Manager role at 40 lpa fixed. EY has assured mid year promotion to senior manager and are ready to match the offer but I don't want to stay back if they just match it. The work is similar in both companies.

Take it in writing. I have heard many times of such promises.
Doesn’t hurt to ask for 45 and then leverage PwC to increase if EY says no. Be aware you’ll be rebuilding relationships, but money is important too and being valued.
If you leave EY you have a fresh slate to build new relationships and leverage better technology.
If EY counters you can go back to PwC for an increase. If EY doesn’t match you still have PwC who once know EY will match may increase offer.
Always do what is best for you.
Yes don't go by words , i was false promised by PWC like that..
Initially they ll promise one thing and then they come up with there situation.

If you are in advisory then I guess there are chances to negotiate further.
One quick question. Do you have any other confirmation regarding the promotion other than the email received in mid December? As far everyone else I have talked to, they have received no other confirmation other than the aforementioned email. Do you know if it's applicable for people that do not have another offer/are not on notice period? Also, what service line are you currently in?
I would recommend, stay at EY if they give you a better offer. No harm in negotiating. Otherwise PwC is great option.
