I am getting a new boss in a couple weeks. I was in line to get her job but was passed up because I am on the younger side and have had some disagreements with management. My new boss has no experience in the industry and is not qualified for the role. I am hoping she fails but want her to perceive that I am helping her. I ultimately want her job. How do I approach this?

You’re toxic and should quit. Seriously, this is disgusting.

This is why you don’t have the job.

The bad news is you’re planning on seeking advice to sabotage her the good news is that you are young enough to change your attitude. Although she might not know the industry, people who are experienced know how to ask the right questions and that’s how they tend to bring innovation to an industry. Even an accounting. My advice would be to help her out and make as many contributions as you can. If you don’t get recognized, take your new learnings to another company and continue to progress with a positive attitude. Good luck!

Look for the lesson here. "You are not lost, where you are is called "here"... FIND THE LESSON.

Dang!

How long have you been working for this company?

Wow… so cut throat that is why you were passed up!

Work on building connections. If you have disagreements with management you will get nowhere in promotions. Try to adopt a mindset where you invision yourself being in that position, but before you do. What steps are you willing to reach that goal? Micro plan to build yourself up. 💯

Work your way up, convince the management with your work ethics, show them you are the right person for the job. Goodluck

Honestly, start looking for a new job. If upper management already feels some type of way about you, they will ensure the new boss is on their side. Tread with extreme caution

just take her out. do some lame shit like one little guy in my office wanted to get me failed and out when I first started however didn't realize that he shot himself in the mouth when he complained about me because his boss complained about him previously hahaha.

If you’re like me I ended up getting let go a year after the new controller started even though under their leadership they missed multiple payments, expanded costs, and sales didn’t move.

Your best bet is to help them in the job the best you can. Maybe you can learn something from them.

Wow. Just wow

Thanks for your honesty

Be positive. Help out and actually attempt to do the job, learn the job. See what you don't know, and others will see your abilities.

You have lost this round, the best thing you could do is help her succeed

You help your boss achieve his or her goals. By doing so, you are also helping yourself to grow.

Anyone have slow months where you burn through a lot of your allotted pro bono/professional development hours to keep hitting minimum daily hours? The past few weeks have been like this for me. Should I be concerned (I.e., will this reflect poorly on me, come review time? Will I have dug myself too much of a hole if I keep burning my non-billable hours?) I’ve been asking partners if I can assist in any projects so I can fill my plate, but I’ve only gotten small (4-6 hour) tasks handed my way.

I joined EY in January. Had no work all of January, but was busy for February and some of March. I have been unassigned for about 4 weeks now, sending availability emails to all of the service lines we are allowed to reach out to for work. I should not have come here 🤦🏼‍♂️ I know it’s nice to have some down-time, but when every day is staring at a computer, the days are SO long.
