You can try that. If they don't do it then resign.

Yes you can try that but I will suggest to take one offer in hand and than talk. It will be beneficial for stronger negotiation.

currently i can see that hiring process is slowed down so not getting much response from recruiters
1. If your relationship is good with your manager, talk it out with them. Talk about why you need more money, any additional responsibilities etc. that you think you are willing to take up, and how important it is for you to grow in the organization. Create a justification for why you need more money.. both on the personal and professional fronts. Don't just say that you are underpaid by market standards
2. If it isn't, begin looking out for a job aggressively. Push your resume across to multiple organizations, build your profile across portals and apply aggressively. The market is still open, so it won't be a major challenge. If you get an offer, but wish to continue in the same organization, use the offer to negotiate a higher package at your current workplace
It can never hurt to have a conversation with your boss. As long as you can trust them
Best to time to do these discussions is just before appraisals.
Now time has gone, but you can surely ask him he can do to add a retention bonus for your which is generally paid in 2 payout after 6-6 months ( nearly 5-10 L can easily be asked)
But if your salary will be revised if some how they will be able to do, you won't be eligible for next year appraisals.
So the best option to maintain the cashflow is to ask for retention bonus.
Win win.
Every org has such component which can be given to any employee basis manager feedback at any time.
This above discussion can be done without offer as well as you will be expecting retention bonus and hoke over ctc
