I do not know of any, but what a fantastic idea! I will say when I first started I was pretty indecisive when it should have been a straightforward message. I had to stop overthinking it all so much. Learning I could be polite and direct is still a work in progress and one of the reasons I had such a hard time.
What did you end up doing?
I'm in this exact situation. The stress is more than anticipated when I took the role. So much that I'm scrolling Glassdoor at midnight for advice! 😅
My boss has offered to role play but hiis time is limited. I don't want to wait too long before addressing bad behavior. The way she shows up is negatively influencing the team.
Sad to say I haven't done much differently yet. :/
Don’t force it. Not everyone should be a manager and taking mgmt. 101 soft skills training may not help you build the filters and command you may need. Focus on leadership and team building (think performance less kumbaya).
Unpack that a little more. The employee can be incredibly insecure, have issues with authority, be a classic narcissist, or all three at once!! There is not one mgmt style and in most cases you have to deploy multiple styles based on the individual. Maybe think about the result you want from this situation and work from there. Not eveyone is going to be coachable or open to change, so save your energy where you can.
