Kids love Prodigy 😊

MobyMax is one we use. It starts the kids with an adaptive placement test which automatically targets the areas that in which they are weak. Our Special Ed team uses it heavily for SDI (Specially Designed Instruction) for those students as it is highly individualized to meet each kid’s specific needs.

I had many co-taught algebra classes last year. I used some Delta Math and not only did I really like it, but the kids did, too. Immediate feedback...videos... Free version is great, but paid version is wonderful

Ok—-I’m old and may be dumb…though I have a doctorate in Ed Leadership—my BS and MS in ED and LD from 1995 from FSU…but wth is transmath?? Is that the same as remedial for us old folks?? And if you want to us something other than iReady…I suggest COURSE MASTERY with Khan Academy and I like to supplement with Study Island as well let kids think they are having fun with Prodigy. I hope that helps…and please enlighten me..

Ok—so our district uses or used DREAMBOX for tier three MTSS last year. I’m not sure what we’re using this year..I’ll ask …

I do not know what Transmath is either. Doesn’t your state have Special education standards?

We have ACCESS POINTS…so the kids are given access to the General Ed curriculum yet graded on a specific course as access to those standards….in other words…they get the same course fifty fifty choice multiple choice test adaptation…and can’t make less than a 60 in the course….they graduate with a SPECIAL DIPLOMA

We use IXL- it has a diagnostic to pinpoint a student’s grade level for each strand. Practice for each skill with explanations. Simple to assign.

I received an offer from IBM Bangalore. However I saw openings at my preferred location Kochi only after the interviews. I called the HR after getting their point of contact mail and I asked if it's possible to switch. They said I'm already tagged to a project and that they'll check from their end if it can be done.

Anyone knows the chances of location being changed after receiving the offer and getting tagged to a project?

I have not yet accepted the offer.

I’m teaching summer school at a high school, and the co-principals have asked me to focus on only 2 to 3 chapters worth (what they are calling “2-3 standards” in the eight days of summer semesters. However, they are also asking me to give kids the midterm and/or final at the end of each period, which covers 4-5 chapters each semester. My question is this: “Is it legal by California Ed code for the administration to ask me to teach less than each entire semester, yet test each whole semester?”

I teach a hybrid of face to face and virtual instruction and we have 1 hour and 10 minutes for whole group instruction. These are fifth graders. How would you use this time to maximize learning? What strategies/methods would you use for engagement and mastery?

I definitely feel like student engagement is low in the virtual realm. Any suggestions would be great.

I finally was able to convince my principal that we need a consistent math intervention at the MS level (grades 5-8). (Right now, we are just "doing our own thing," which isn't helping students progress much.) Does anyone have any suggestions? It would be beneficial to have some sort of progress monitoring tool as part of the program, if possible. Our classes run roughly 55 minutes (which is too long for an intervention, in my humble opinion).

Thanks for any advice.

I found using GoFormative’s free version to be very helpful in teaching new topics to my students. I embed videos I make demonstrating how to complete a question, next I ask them to complete an example showing work, and then the next question they type their answer so it automatically alerts them to see if they answered correctly. It can be used live in a meet and on an independent virtual day. In my google meets, I’m able to give feedback on any question they have trouble with in real time.

What would u do in this "hypothetical" scenario.
1. Student gets 95 percentile on standardized tests in 1st grade.
2. 2nd gr teacher, capable and flexible but a little old school.
3. Parent, from foreign country, wants us to teach 2 years ahead of where student is at in math and reading in case they have to return to other country.
4. District's old standard for acceleration is at the 97th+ percentile and other students are much more"advanced".
5. Parent wants detailed steps for teacher's plan

My district has finally gone 1-to-1. Is there a good app or website that I could use to have students submit answers anonymously while going over problems in class? I did this last week using Kahoot to go over a state testing review packet. It was great because I could see how many got the right answer and move on if no one missed the question. However, I would like to do it without having to create something in advance. I hope this doesn't sound confusing.

Does anyone know a great 7th grade math workbook? Our school system does not buy the students books. I’ve taught 6th grade math for 20 years and have made all my notes, worksheets and and examples, but I’ve been assigned a seventh grade math class and don’t have enough time to get all of that ready. I feel like I’ve spent so much money on Amazon and TPT but it never ends up being what I want. It’s usually too easy. I would be grateful for any ideas, suggestions or actual workbooks names.
