I don’t know what state your from, but in nyc the assistants are compensated based on their education. Top pay is $60,000 plus and additional $10,000 if you do the 6 week summer program. Plus they pay for schooling and medical including dental and vision. I know this first hand cause I started as a TA. If it were me, I would doing the online assistant position in nyc. They are always looking for online TA’s in nyc. I know a TA who made 100,000 last year as she worked all these positions! TA full time and did the afterschool program, summer school and 2 hrs online! If you’re in school this will be difficult, but can be done! Good lick
Yea but it’s NYC so $100k is like $20k in other places. Rent is like $4,000 a month for a 200sq ft apartment.
Write down other things you can do.
What skills do you have or can acquire?
I normally have a summer job besides being a para, however I moved. I was a seasonal supervisor at a theme park, so I have lots of experience in the amusement park industry, and recruiting for potential hires. I also have great customer service skills as I was the one called when a situation was escalated. Plus I have an award from that position :)
I have all the office program skills needed for an at home job and supplies needed.
I just feel like I apply and hear nothing back. It might be due to how many years I have, since I have only been working for 4 years.
You might have to go to school and get more skills and/or degrees. Either that or come up with some new product that everyone wants but only you have.
HST unfortunately we’ve all been there. Good luck!
The biggest challenge of working the private sector is that they expect results. You can't just fail to produce in the private sector and blame things on lack of funding or out of touch government mandates. Unlike in the public sector, where you can just fail to produce anything and still collect a check.
While I agree with your sentiment about executive over pay, they still need to produce to earn pay. Executives do get fired regularly for not performing.
Babysit if you like little kids. It can be fun, scheduling can be flexible, and you can make some cash. Some families pay really well, and extra money can be made on days that you have off- like Monday holidays, school vacation weeks, and summer. Sometimes in the summer, kids just need to be fed and brought to their summer camp programs- and you have the day free until it is time to pick them up! It is a great flexible job if you like children.
Littera Education is looking for virtual tutors between the hours of 8AM EST- 8 PM EST. Set your own hours.
Become a Registered Behavior Tech (RBT), you can work after school and pick up more hours as you are available. RBT is paid more than a para. Look for jobs in-home.
Does your district have a pipeline for advancing as a teacher? May come with some soet of funding for going to school, contingent on getting a teaching credential and teaching there for a set time.
Right? And I remember that slog working full time and working on the degree too. It's so freaking hard.
I do Uber on the side and I do HR work on line on the side. I love teaching but the pay is just not there. A lot of people tutor privately.
