Just get sport coats. Not like any of us wear pants at home nowadays anyways- if it gets cold a sport jacket and sweat pants does the trick, now like we stand up on zoom calls
I saw someone at a coffee shop in a zoom suit the other day and it was great. Board shorts, sandals, dress shirt, tie, and jacket. How long before this becomes the go-to for client sites?
My dude. Most people I know are arguing if they still need full pants. I think suits will be optional.
Dress a step above the client. If they were tshirts, you do casual button down.
For the first meeting, a dress shirt (no tie) should do the trick.
You still need a suit for other life events regardless. You should always have a suit that fits so buy a versatile one.
@Senior Principal- you need to read more 🤦♂️
Versatile suit/clothing refers to something you can wear to a variety of functions. It doesn’t refer to sizing. I’m advising OP to buy something that he can fit into.
Some people seem to be adamant life without a suit is unprofessional. I think professionalism is in action, how you carry yourself, and how you treat and communicate with others - all of which can easily be achieved by a moderate dress.
So then the question is do you think work and interviews will still require a suit? I interviewed a few months ago and the hiring manager said it was 100% not necessary. Hence why I'm bringing this up. Like is it not going to be necessary once we start showing up places or do you think it will it be back to business as usual?
Not for zooms at all. Work button down is the max level of dress up during covid that I’ve seen be necessary. Even with very senior clients.

Assuming you intend to participate in life, yes, you need at least one suit.

Probably not. Even if some workplaces abandon them, you need suits for weddings, funerals, and sundry other life events.
Or you can show up looking like a clown. But I don’t recommend that.
