Feeling similar. "stuck and sad"
I’m sorry you feel this way. It’s hard.
Might be time to look at a change in company, change in job or even both. Maybe even therapy if what you're feeling is worse than just feeling bored or unfulfilled at work
Happy to chat with anyone
Finding a therapist- although obnoxious to do - is worth it when things get sad and dark
It’s tough. I feel similar - good at my job and well compensated, but it’s an unfulfilling life. Almost a bullshit job. I’d love to do something more meaningful but can’t afford the pay cut. There’s gotta be a happy in between somewhere, I just haven’t figured it out.
If you figure it out let me know… I’m running on fumes nowadays
Or go find yourself in the jungle with ayahuasca, she puts life into perspective.
It sounds like you need to take a step back and play the “what would it look like financially for me if I quit” game and weigh your options to do so, jump ship, or take some personal time off
I think your kids want you. If you think back to those conversations about something being expensive- you know you need to be able to give them shelter and food as a bare minimum. Once you know that threshold that is acceptable for you; then you can give them a rainy day fund and an entertainment budget to layer over it, and guess what? Anything beyond that is overkill.
I found doing something inherently dangously and risky, but safely helped me out.
I'm an Air Force Vet.
I ride motorcycles. Really fast.
But on a track, with the best safety gear money can buy.
And religiously mull over maintenance like it's an F-22 with a corrosion problem.
Military life demands so much tedious attention, and for good reason. This civilian role just isn't making all the neurons "go burrr".
Go practice Operational Risk Managment, have a ridiculous safety and maintenance ritual, and hone an inherently dangerous craft.
As safe as possible.
Or do DMT if you can find it.
Both are good.
I would love to know if why you all feel “stuck” and how it bleeds into your personal life? I’m a teacher, I have summers off, kids are easy as heck to manage when you hold them accountable, pay is garbage, time is flexible at times, I just want to understand where all of you are coming from. I don’t feel stuck and my pay sucks. I feel like an E3 sometimes and honestly, I like it.
