I am working with a recruiter for an in house counsel job. The job opened on the company website April 13. The recruiter reached out to my friend two Fridays ago who referred me to him. I spoke with the recruiter on Monday about the job, and he sent my resume over that morning. On Friday, the recruiter told me he had not heard anything either way. Today the job posting first disappeared from the company website around 3 pm. It then disappeared from LinkedIn a few hours later. Bad sign?

Some posting have time limits (eg 2 weeks) and it will be reposted after, if not, then it might be filled internally or paused, there are so many reasons, don’t overthink

In-house jobs are in such high demand that many are only posted for a short period of time due to being flooded with applicants. Recruiters can close the posting if they already have a strong candidate pool. It's highly unlikely that an in-house job posted on 4/13 is already filled, and in-house offers fall apart all the time (much more so than law firm lateral roles), so even if they found "the one" that person could back out.

Is it really that difficult to get hired for a federal job? I was interviewed for a GS12 job but never heard back, they still didn’t hire anyone and I didn’t get a rejection. I applied for another GS07 job, was accepted, I took it, but I believe I can do better. I have a master’s and have extra graduate research experience. I am still applying to new jobs but I was told it is impossible to move up the grade level now. Everyone is telling me to stick with the government. What are your thoughts?

I wasn’t sure which bowl to solicit advice from so hoping to catch a bite here. I’m currently in ID. Of course, I want OUT! My interests are L&E and corporate. My options are 1) wait it out where I am in hopes to switch to L&E or 2) in house oil and gas industry transactional work. What would you do and why? I figured this bowl being specific to Texas would understand importance of oil and gas industry.

Any recommendations for good recruiting agencies in the Carolinas? Trying to find someone to help me navigate my potential lateral career options based on my experience and interests since I’ve been in litigation almost two years and it’s not for me and I will be relocating there.

I currently work at a medium sized firm and have about two years experience in personal injury litigation. The billable hours and lack of work life balance are really getting to me and I am looking to switch to something else out of litigation, preferably in house. I am also looking to relocate to a different state. How do I go about properly marketing myself to companies that might not take my relocation and minimal experience seriously?

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me. Is this normal in the entertainment world? Any suggestions?
