I applied for this role over a month ago, and the interview process moved quickly. First a call with the TA, then an online interview with the manager, followed by an onsite meeting with leadership. Each conversation went well, and I was told my credentials and skills were impressive and would meet all their expectations. Yet after two weeks of silence, I received a generic rejection. Where did I go wrong? Why after all the time wasted (on both ends) did it end this way??

Help & insight plz!

As someone who is involved in interviewing, we are often encouraged to give generic feedback on why we went another way. It's a litigious world out there and no one needs fuel.

I can see how it could add fuel to a fire. Thanks for the feedback!

It's impossible to know what went wrong, and it's entirely possible nothing went wrong. Remember, the interview process is a competition, and there will only be one winner. So it may not be that you did something wrong, but someone else just edged you out. It happens. And all you can do is resolve that next time around you'll be the person who edges out everyone else.

I appreciate your perspective, and I understand that hiring decisions can be competitive. It’s just disappointing when transparency is lacking, especially after strong feedback throughout the process. While I have to accept that another candidate may have edged me out, clearer communication from companies would go a long way in improving the candidate experience. (if anyone out there from that level reads this, :) )

You may not have done anything wrong. That is how the job market is right now. There are so many reasons this could have happened. Don't beat yourself up and move on to the next opportunity, you've got this.

Thank you - I am bummed, but moving forward is the only way to go.

I had the same experience last month with a biotech real state company. Unfortunately we will never know because they can’t disclose. But it makes me think if it was somehow due to our personal appearance, limitations, and other factors that are better known in person.

Hi- I’m an hourly AA, been on the role for 6 months now and it’s my first AA job. I did not get a raise when I took the job because it was technically a demotion ( I was a team leader at a contact center). I assist two VPs and now they want to add a third because they’re looking for the “ 3:1 ratio “. Should I ask for a raise? Is this normal? I know another AA that handles 3+ people but idk if she’s hourly or salary. Any thoughts?

I am looking for a new role where I can work remotely globally. I’m currently a “ministry assistant” which is essentially an executive assistant/admin/customer service rep all in one. Anyone have ideas for jobs that are a mix between administration and clinical work? I went to school for community health and have a lot of manager/patient coordinator experience under my belt, but I'm also a volunteer EMT and would like to start using those skills in my next job that I'm searching for.

Most titles I've found interesting are along the "medical assistants" role, but don't fit the bill cause I don't have an MA license

I am in the process of finding administrative assistant interns from our local universities. In an effort to make my job opportunity appealing, I am asking everyone in this bowl about an appropriate job title. Is "Administrative Assistant" outdated or unappealing? I certainly don't want to mislead anyone on the job responsibilities, but I do want to avoid any potential negative stereotypes attached to that job title. Are there alternative titles that you find more appropriate for 2022?
