Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

I think it's safe to say that you did if they accepted without countering. But with that said, I wouldn't spend another second thinking about it. You're clearly comfortable with this number or you wouldn't have said it to begin with. No sense ruing money you may have left on the table when you managed to secure more than what they had hoped you'd sign for.
How much higher was it
It’s difficult to say without a little more information. What was the starting salary they offered and how much more did you ask for?. Also I would Google the going rate for your job title and experience in your area and see if that gives you a little bit of an idea. Because you could’ve been right on the money or your way under shot yourself it’s hard to say

I hear promising things about Glassdoor’s salary lookup tool.
It's always conceivable that we could have gotten more, but you never really know. It's possible your number seemed reasonable enough and they didn't want to spend any more time on it. If you think you'll be happy with the job, and you can live on the money, take the win!
At the end of the day, we all want to make more money, but be proud to have had your counter accepted. Plus, if it's more than you were making previously, then that's still a win in my book.
Either that or they're planning on dumping you real soon. Are you valued to that company do you create value? If so you undersold yourself If not. I personally would be making sure I have some other avenues. But hey you got what you wanted right? You got what you felt you were worth right? That's all that matters.
