I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 12. My family did not opt to put me on medication. I illegally discovered Adderall in college. Worked incredible. Got diagnosed after college & after having been fired from my first job. Passed the CPA exams on Adderall. Went off of it again. I do everything well at my job except for attention to detail within my excel files & emails. Will taking ADHD medication really fix this? Does anyone else have this issue and was it resolved by taking medication?

For me attention to detail got worse, but executing and focusing improved
@C1 yes i was thinking that too.
Is there a concern regarding taking medication? If not, you can try it and see if there is an improvement in the areas where you are noticing deficiencies.
I equate medication as bringing my executive function up to par without having to burn out during the day. I have enough capacity to not be mentally exhausted and be present for life at home as well as at work.

You can start on the lowest possible dose. I always do that now and don't start with the recommended dose.
Unfortunately I've found my natural coping mechanism of obsessively checking, rechecking, having something that automates checking, checking the automation is checking correctly then checking again is the only thing that works for me. Medication helps me be more present, and probably helps to find degree but probably hard to notice.
Either way, I can spot mistakes in a sea of data across the room that's NOT MINE faster than the screens refresh rate.
I guess the answer is to only work at checking others work?
Maybe the checking and rechecking is related to anxiety too, similar to my situation.
Its something that really helped me. It isn't for everyone but some people really do need medications. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. You could always give it a try and see if it works for you.
