I believe life is about what we tradeoff and what are our choices. So with this experience level if you are too much focus on salary then its all about patience. There will be an Employer who will understand your position and provide a offer but if you are ready shift focus from salary to learning and experience then you could accept offer, work for at least a year learn more product management with on job experiences and after that experience under the belt you will be in better position to negotiate with more experience and knowledge about role, industry, product & overall industry. Trust me even after 16 years i feel i have lot many things to learn.
May I ask how many companies you have interviewed with?
Nonetheless, you should be looking for APM roles only, and always don't blame yourself for the jumps. It can also be due to company culture or layoffs happening
I've interviewed with 11 companies since December, aiming for a salary between 11-13 LPA. I believe this is fair based on my experience and research.
during HR discussions, all companies have offered around 7 LPA (my previous salary) or capped at 9 LPA max. They cite my job changes within the past 2 years as the reason. I explained that the layoffs were not my choice, but it seems to make little difference.
I even tried to negotiate a variable pay for the rest of the expected amount, joining bonus, additional paid leaves, remote option and none worked.
My question is: am I expecting too much given the current market conditions? My research suggests my ask is reasonable, but I'm struggling to get a job with the expected pay.
