Who thinks it’s strange? That is rule #1 in interviewing…research the company and go into it already knowing their business and how you can help it

"Here's the one thing that nobody is talking about..."
Insert obvious truth that everybody is talking about.

No one thinks it’s strange. Most companies expect it. If you don’t show during the interview that you did any home work about the company and the job, you aren’t likely to get hired. If possible, I also research whoever will be conducting the interview.
Not sure who thinks its weird, its super important to understand the culture of an organization
It’s not strange to research a company. In fact you’re supposed to because you need to know exactly what that company does. The fact that somebody would throw a fit because you did research on the business shows that they do shady business

What the others said -- who's "acting like it's strange"?
That, and, if you're in the US, you're not signing contracts.
for a number of years i was part of an onboarding team but a IC , the company was very toxic, but they paid me well and i didnt actually have to deal with that. when i saw someone who had great potential i'd always tell them to do their due diligence on the company. 99% of the time the good people all left.
Where did you encounter resistance to this approach of doing due diligence, before accepting a job offer or employment contract? The resistance would be the red flag for me, not the due diligence by you.
I do it every time I interview. You are foolish not to research.
Every recruiter I worked with encouraged me to do research of the company. If a interviewer have issue that, walk out as fast you can.
Always research
