I feel like I passed my CPA exams through sheer luck, anyone else? Trying not to beat myself up but I can't shake the feeling, wondering if I'm actually cut out for this.

Sounds like you have a severe case of imposter syndrome. There’s an aspect of luck/chance for just about everyone, so be grateful you passed and celebrate!

I had a manager tell me early on in my career that the folks I work with aren’t necessarily smarter than me, just more experienced. Really changed the outlook for me, hope it helps you too.

What do you call an accountant that got 75 on all four parts of the CPA Exam? A CPA. It took me a couple of tries (they lost the exam one year).
Those letters are invaluable and will pay dividends.
Congratulations.

Yep barely passed. But no one asks or cares about scores, just that you passed.

smart

Take it. Not to diminish your accomplishment but it’s just a licensing exam. It does not say much about your aptitude either way. You already learned most of it in school.

The cpa exam has little bearing on my actual job and work. I haven’t used a single thing from the exam.

i would put more weight into your performance reviews, rather than exam grades. if your managers say you’re doing great, you are! this is more recent and relevant feedback compared to an exam you took a while ago

even IF you deserved to fail the exam. i’m sure you could pass it now, knowing what you know

I work in a corp environment & wondering what others think about this -

I have a large team and after me, I have a supervisor and a manager who my supervisor reports to. The manager recently got promoted to director & my boss is likely to take her role within the next 6 mos.

I was promoted in aug and wondering if it’s crazy to ask for another promo after my boss gets manager. This wouldn’t be for 6-12mos & I will be in my role for close to a year.

Is this too soon to ask? TIA!
