Cognizant Recently cognizant have changed their internet wfh allowance policy.we use to get 1800 per month as internet allowance without submitting any bills or transaction details. Now they changed the policy as we need to apply for icici/axis/hdfc credit card from there we need to make the transaction and reimburse the same. I am ok with everything but why i need to apply for credit card? How a company can force me to have a credit card? It will directly/indirectly alter the credit score right? Cogniza

This happens a million times a year, you have to wait on hold. Try the practitioner line if you have a PTIN.

Well what does the letter say? Should be a section for disagreement/appeal. Write them a letter stating the facts and include your decree and other evidence. The only problem is it'll take forever for them to process it which leaves your current bill at an issue. I would pay it, write the letter and request the $1k as a refund. Or simpler, spend a few hours on hold while multitasking and get it done through that. OR. Hire an accountant to do it for you.
Having written numerous of these appeal letters myself, I recommend sending via certified mail also. The confirmation that it has been sent and received does wonders for peace of mind
I would just pay the $400 and move on. Seems like other options would just be a bigger hassle or cost you more.
She didn’t claim the whole thing because we agreed on the divorce decree. I googled it and it said I can attach the decree but where am I attaching and how would that put in effect after?
You can call the IRS and provide the divorce decree to show that you are splitting the credits. It’s a lot of work but could be worth it.
“They didn’t account for”, no no, you did not actively have the payments transferred to your name and SSN.

You may just want to pay it and recoup your share of the estimated tax payments from your ex.
