What are your thoughts about someone willing to pursue SAP consulting as a career ? Oracle and SAP are standard ERP systems in Fortune/Big companies so even if one joins and learns in 2-3 yrs what are the growth opportunities in SAP ? I do recognize that there are a lot of advanced planning systems out there but in reality is it fair to assume that one can easily plateau off in 5 yrs from a career progression standpoint?SAP Oracle o9 Solutions Blue Yonder Kinaxis Inc.

Congratulations on the job offer! You can still negotiate. However, you need to have a case for why. Did you learn that you’d have more responsibility in your 3rd interview than in your initial convo? Something like that you can build a case off of. Orrrrr is there something in the benefits package that you wanted to have and don’t see? Can you negotiate for more paid time off or some other benefit that would account for the 5k difference so you don’t have to negotiate money?
Of course, this all depends on how confident you feel in negotiating.
Got it! I’ve been communicating with the hiring manager via email mostly but she called me for the offer.
She sent over the details of the offer and said once I verbally agree to the key details she will send a formal letter/NDA to sign. She sent it today and said she check back within 1 business day, so till Monday!
Rule of thumb: Always negotiate!
Some things other than salary to consider additional pto, sign-on bonus, flex schedule, equity, anything that may make your WLB easier commuter stipend, career coaching, etc.
Congrats on receiving an offer 🎉🎉🎉
Quick answer YES! Always negotiate your offer because if they came in at $65K they have 70. Did you give them that number? Also depending on the role, you f they can’t add to your base negotiate PTO, Flex work schedule… I know people that negotiated the type of company CC cards they got to leverage the perks and rewards.
Don’t go too crazy if this is your first time don’t go too crazy, start by asking for 70-75k as a range and let them fall where they can.
Just make sure that you are justifying your ask with the value you know you are adding to the team, that and the amount of time effort and energy the role will require.
But most importantly MAZEL TOV!!! 🎊 Cingrats on the role. Let us know how it goes.
Agree, since they already offered the higher end. I negotiated another 5k before because the interview was so intense. That I said it was minimized in the job description. You can try that as well. Usually, those questions are asked before you go through the entire interview process. Also, congrats 🎊🎉🍾
Are you interviewing for other roles/have other offers?
I have a final round interview on Tuesday with another company, no other offers yet
Congratulations 🥳
Congrats! Always negotiate.
I don’t agree with needing another offer or a reason other than doing an assessment of the market. I typically negotiate with the premise that somewhere someone is in this role making more than what I’ve been offered. I also try not to negotiate for less than a $10K bump. I’ve done this a few times and I’m successful in the negotiation.
If you’re comfortable, tell them you’re really excited about the role, that you know you can bring value in abc areas but after doing an assessment of the market for the role, level of responsibility and your YOE- you see salaries that range from 75-85k. Then ask them if they could meet you around $75K. You can structure it different ways but they will likely split the difference and offer you $70K. One round of negotiating is tolerable… anything else can be a hassle so lay out your ask tactically.
Yay!
Congrats!!!
@BDR—- what was the final outcome?!
