I found out today I make about 5% more than my team lead who’s a level above me. We also live in the same city and they’ve been at the company for a couple years more than me.

They’ve been a great mentor to me but I feel like if I disclose the pay disparity, it will create friction in our working relationship. At the same time, I really feel they’re being screwed and should know.

Any advice?

Just found out that my favorite aunt, who claimed I was her “favorite” niece, chose to leave all her valuables to her other two nieces who never visited or called her once in the last ten years. My aunt passed away suffering from cancer last year and didn’t have her own kids. I was there by her side throughout her battle. I still wish I had done more, made her life easier. I probably sound petty, but a part of me is forcing me to re-evaluate every interaction I ever had with her.

VENT: I feel completely demotivated after our new FOW announcement and it gave me whiplash. Working here has been a dream, so it feels weirdly hurtful to be publicly celebrated as part of the “expanded talent pool” in announcements, but be told privately that my return to the office will be accompanied by a massive pay cut because of where I live.
