I gave my interview in KPMG for Tax Senior. Salary was negotiated to 14LPA. Gave the documents requested and the application was in progress. Today suddenly HR call and said they can only offer 12LPA. I said no, and now I check it's shows the application is rejected by employer. Gave 2 rounds with senior manager & one assessment test, and too much of my efforts. In the initial conversation before interview only I said about my CTC expectations. KPMG Deloitte PwC

Does anyone have a similar experience? I interviewed with recruiters from two of "Big 4". Both interviews went well, and I was told the recruiters will submit my resume to the partners and senior managers for the next interviews. 3 weeks later, I received the rejection letters without the next interview. I wonder why the partners even not bothered to interview me. If it matters, I am a CPA with 3 years non-PA experience and applied for experienced associate positions. I appreciate any insights.
