I got an offer to join Deloitte tax. KPMG had put me on a pip a couple of months ago and then they offered me to either do the pip or leave and get paid for about 2 months. I opted to leave. Do you know the phone number I need to provide to the employment verification company to verify my employment history with them? Kpmg told me they’d only provide my title and time of service. Is that correct?

This is going to be harsh but honest….It is crazy that you can get hired when refusing to be on a PIP at another big 4. Is going on a PIP fun? absolutely not, but it would have been your chance to learn how to improve and become a successful team member. Instead you refused to learn what you need to improve on and now are going to join Deloitte on engagements that need team members who try their best to learn and improve? I guarantee you are just going to end up on a PIP here if that’s your attitude. I hope you use this restart as a chance to grow and learn, so that you are an asset rather than a burden to your future teammates.

The variance internal to each firm is astounding. What maybe substandard performance from one manager or leader may be excellent performance from another manager or leader. For example, if a leader or manager expects the person to follow details and instructions that are completely unnecessary, then a PIP may be forthcoming and unjustified. If a person is very self-motivated and does excellent work, the micromanagement could be a negative that results in a completely unearned PIP.

Also OP, can’t you just use your local office phone number? Obviously an admin will answer, but they can transfer the call.

That’s what I did. I think they use a third party for verification. I was laid off from the Firm and they just verify dates of employment.

You can get this from SSC. Under My Information, click “View”. On the left-hand pane, click “Employment Verification”. Then select “Request an Employment Verification Letter” radio button on the top right and fill out your information.

Your employment history is a public record. It will come up during deloitte's background check. Are you referring to employee reference?

Hi Fishes

I need help to decide
I have got 2 offers
1. Tigerhall - 45LPA
2. Zupee - 42LPA
Which one I should choose?
In Tigerhall, I will get a lot of free time as the work is same as what I have done so far in my career therefore, I can focus on more things now.
In Zupee, I will get to learn new skill which might be good for my career.
Also, comparatively in hand salary of Tigerhall is higher than Zupee (it will less tax deduction as it's a Singapore based company)
Please suggest

Hey fishes, can someone tell me how the 80c bracket works, i know i can get exempt upto 1.5lakh under it, what i wanna know is does PF comes under it or not? For example if my yearly pf deduction is 20k and VPF is 10k so now will i still be able to show investment of 1.5lakh under 80c apart from PF and VPF or i'll be able to get exemption on only 1.2 lakh( 1.5lakh-30k= 1.2lakh)?

Thank you in advance!!

Am I understanding utilization rate correctly? It’s chargeable time over total time? Charged 40 hours and had 10 hours non-charge so my utilization is 80%? If so, wouldn’t it benefit me to understate non-charge hours so my utilization is higher since they only really care about chargeable time anyways? Charge 40 hours still but only put 5 hours non-charge for utilization to be 89% instead of 80%? Or am I misunderstanding how utilization works?
