But it’s taking like forever to negotiate a salary (I pushed back and asked for a bit more over a month now). Every time I ask about the status, they say, “we’ll get back to you soon.” At this point, I feel they’ll go with a lower-salary candidate. People who don’t submit their time daily, how do you remember what you did and for how long? I’ve always just submitted each timer as soon as I finish a task—“call with x re y” really doesn’t take that long even if I’m busy, and if I don’t do it immediately I’ll forget all those little I did in the morning by the time I go to bed. No shade at all to those with different systems, just genuinely curious because I see a lot about catching up at month end on here and I have no idea how that works??

Should a remote job’s salary be based on where I live or the company? For instance, I’m interviewing with a SF company for a role that has the ability to be remote (I live in portland). They gave me the “portland range” when talking about salary. What if I later on decide I no longer went to be remote but come into the office and be in SF area. What’s the typical approach with salary for jobs that can be remote?

Have an offer from a dream company but I'll need to go in at a lower level. Knowing that I can bring a lot of value to the company (read- I know my worth), I negotiated with the hiring manager to have a level/comp review 6 months after employment. If I hit all my goals (ie, prove myself) within that time frame, I'll get a promotion and salary adjustment.
QUESTIONS:
Should this be in writing in the offer letter?
How detailed should it be? I assume I won't know what goals to set till I start...
