I got into UCSD with a scholarship. Despite that it's still 56k. Is it worth it?

A guy that I’ve been seeing over the past few months just lost his job - what can I do to support him? Not his SO and we are quarantining with our respective families on opposite coasts, but I like him a lot and want to show that I care without being overbearing/overstepping boundaries. BTW he’s also a consultant and got let go after reviews due to performance reasons and his firm not doing so well.

What are two or three pieces of advice that you wish your parents had reinforced in you better, or you had listened and followed better, as you look back?
