I had 3 interviews (phone/video) with various executives/stakeholders. One of them was the hiring manager. My next step is to come on-site to meet him. Is this just a formality since I already (cont.)

Unlikely to be just a formality, hiring manager is very likely using the F2F to determine who out of the top candidates would be the best fit for the team, which is as much about interpersonal skills as it is other qualifications

like

interviewed with him. He was the first person I interviewed with after the recruiting team, so getting through him (Head of Product and Marketing) was required before talking to others (CTO, VP of Product)

Seems like the natural next step to me if your first interview was through phone/video

SM1, assuming all candidates have relatively the same hard skill set, what do you suggest for the F2F to impress. I’m sure you’re actively involved in evaluating new hires, so would appreciate your input.

At this point I typically put a lot of weight on getting to know the person and assessing their professional skills (aka “soft skills”, a term I despise). You’ll want to build rapport with the hiring manager and demonstrate interest in the role / the company - but be prepared for questions about your technical skills as well. a

Remember that you also get to decide if you’d would like working with the hiring manager, so recommend having some good questions in hand to evaluate if it is a fit for your work style, how you like to be led / managed, career goals, etc. The strongest candidates I recently interviewed asked me the best and most thoughtful questions about my leadership style, what makes someone successful working for me, what our team culture is like, what I’m most proud of, goals for myself and the team, what is difficult about my area of the business, etc.

Good luck!

Hi Fishes,

I have joined one of the top 4 Indian private bank as a Campaign Manager in 2019, after 3 years of campaign management I recently got into a product Manager role to learn PM Skills. However, 1 month into the new role I realised that there's no scope to learn PM Skills other than basic Project management. Request your suggestions & referrals to move into proper Prod Man role. Am open for any course suggestions too🙂

Can anyone give me their honest opinion on working at Eli Lilly, the Indy site? I have a few coworkers that have worked there in the past but no one recently. I’m currently being recruited pretty seriously for a in-vivo technician position in the auto-immune team, but I already have a job lined up at Envigo as a small animal sx tech. Salaries would be comparable (Lilly would most likely be a little more with bonuses), but if the culture sucks, I’d hate to burn a bridge with Envigo.

Hello Fishes,

I currently hold offers from below:
IBM - 15.5 LPA
CTS - 18.5 LPA
PWC India - 16 LPA
Oracle Financial Services Software(OFSS) - 21 LPA

Planning to join OFSS as I will work in product development team and can work in any shift timings with WFH.

Today I had my 2nd round interview with EY GDS and got rejected.
Do I need to worry about this and feel low?
Could EY GDS would have been better instead of OFSS?

Please provide your valuable inputs.

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)

Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."

Just a reminder that outside our bubble no-one really cares about firm prestige etc.
